Upstairs Herpetology Loft - $50,000 (need 1)

This would expand the existing Herpetology Breeding Center by adding more loft space. We are part of an official network of safe places for illegal wildlife confiscations. We need more space due to an increase in demand.

Portable X-ray Machine - $13,800 (need 1)

The Veterinary Team is requesting a battery-powered portable X-ray machine to improve safety and efficiency when working around elephants and rhinos. We need to bring the imaging machine to the larger animals who are unable to travel to The Rollins Animal Health Center.

Mud Wallows for Warthogs - $5,000 (always in need)

Our warthogs LOVE mud, and this purchase will allow several truckloads of dirt to be added to their habitat to keep them rolling and romping in their favorite wallows all year!

Hotdog Warming Blanket- $895 (buys 2 blankets)

These blankets are for keeping anesthetized animals warm and comfy during surgery and other procedures to help prevent hypothermia. The blankets are specially designed for vet procedures. Our current blanket is in need of replacement.

Nest Camera- $700 (Need 2)

The Bird Team would like to better monitor bird behavior, especially during breeding season. Cameras allow us to monitor egg incubation, hatching, and chick rearing, while not disturbing nest sites, and are critical to our success! This camera is for an older model that best suits our needs and is rated for heavy-duty outdoor use.

Substrate Delivery- $500 (always in need)

Our sun bears and giant otters enjoy utilizing different substrates for enrichment, especially for digging and foraging (sun bears) and rolling, rubbing and drying off (otters). This item will cover the delivery of substrates such as dirt, mulch, or sand from a local landscaping company.

Wireless Transmitter & Headset- $403 (need 1, for now)
A wireless headset transmitter is essential for Keeper Talks because it enables hands-free mobility and clear communication in noisy outdoor environments. This equipment has the ability to maintain consistent audio quality while an Animal Care Team member interacts with animals or a crowd.

Helios Lights- $401 (need 1, for now)
This is a lighting system for herpetology habitats that simulates the movement of the sun through the sky, which is different from our current system of lights just coming on/off over the entire habitat. This would provide different opportunities for basking, movement through the habitats, and an opportunity for guests to see more naturalistic behaviors. If it works as well as it appears to, we would like to implement more systems like this in any habitat where they can be set up. Initially, the first unit would be used on what is currently the Jamaican boa habitat in Scaly Slimy Spectacular, but could be used on any of our smaller or mid-sized reptile/amphibian habitats.

Parrot Perch- $400 (need 2)
This is a giant handmade tree stand that is cut from a single piece of wood. It provides several hooks and eyes to hang enrichment and will be utilized for playtime and programs with Ambassador Birds, including some of the highlights of our bird presentation, the parrots.

Vetcorder Accessories - $365 (need 1)
We received the monitor unit as a Wish List donation, but we could use 2 of the accessories (oxygen sensor clip and ECG needle electrodes) that did not come with the unit to extend the range of animals that we serve. These will allow us to monitor patient vitals of very large (giraffe) and very small (gecko) patients.

Large Tray - $300 (need 4)
These durable trays are used by the orangutans in a lot of ways. They build their nests in them, or we fill them with non-toxic bubble bath for playtime.

Hoofstock Feeders- $147 (always in need)
Giraffes, zebras and warthogs don't like to eat the same way twice! This item will purchase log feeders, honeycomb feeders and other puzzle feeders to keep them entertained and full of snacks.

Bobbin Toy- $145 (need 4)
The orangutans enjoy sitting and playing on these wobble bobbins! They are extra durable for primates.

Boomer Ball - $120 (need 1)
This would be the first boomer ball for our crocodile!  We hope this new ball toy will increase activity level and locomotion.

Carnivore Enrichment $75 (always in need)
By purchasing this item, you are helping to restock the enrichment shed for our carnivores. Lions, tigers, sun bears, otters, clouded leopard, binturongs and other carnivores would benefit from these smaller keeper-requested items which might include puzzles, treat feeders, hanging toys and more.

Paper Buckets - $60 (always in need)
Nangka is like any typical toddler and loves to play. He really enjoys playing with white paper buckets. We can fill them with juice or non-toxic bubble bath for added fun. And once they are empty, Nangka enjoys sitting in them or putting them on his head.

Orangutan Puzzles - $55 (always in need)
The Primate Team has requested both metal and PVC puzzle feeders for hanging and climbing. This is a great way for orangutans to engage in natural foraging behaviors and have fun!

Binturong enrichment - $52 (always in need)
The binturong family is growing and climbing. Help us renovate the habitat with various perches, ramps, hammocks and climbing structures suggested by the Carnivore Team.

Hoofstock Enrichment - $50 (always in need)
By purchasing this item, you are helping to restock the enrichment shed for our hoofstock animals. Giraffes, zebras and warthogs would love new foraging items!

Artificial Plants $49 (always in need)
Help spruce up some Scaly Slimy Spectacular habitats. The Herpetology Department is always in need of artificial plants. They are good at providing hiding spots and climbing opportunities for many reptiles and amphibians.

Paper Lawn Bags or other Orangutan Enrichment - $31 (always in need)

This category will purchase one of the following small enrichment items requested by the Primate Department: chalk, paper lawn bags, non-toxic bubble bath, large plastic buckets, large mirrors, durable plastic dumbbells, and building supplies for enrichment. The orangutans are very creative and enjoy drawing with chalk, hiding in lawn bags, and playing with bubbles!

Scent Enrichment - $30 (always in need)
Our Carnivore Team is running low on our supply of scents (colognes, perfumes, spices etc). The big cats are very sensory-oriented. Being able to provide a wide variety of sensory opportunities is one way we keep everyone mentally enriched. This will purchase Zoo-approved scents with high-quality ingredients that the animals love!

Gorilla Enrichment - $25 (always in need)
This category will purchase one of the following small enrichment items requested by the Primate Department: Alfalfa bags, boomer balls, quick links, Kong toys, or dip feeders.

Hollee Balls- $24 (always in need)
Hollee footballs and rolling balls are wonderful feeder puzzles for birds of prey like Harris’ hawk Hawkmoth and Mandela the milky eagle owl. They are also a favorite of Abby, the Abyssinian ground hornbill.

Exercise Wheel - $22 (need 2)
This style of wheel is great exercise for chinchillas, armadillos, and lesser Madagascar hedgehog tenrecs!

Kong Toy - $15 (need 5)
Large Kongs are used by Outback animals, World of Wild Theater birds, and our kinkajous!

Mirror Ball - $14 (need 1)
This mirror ball will be given to our giant otters and binturongs. It's the perfect size to be chased and pounced on!

Dog Feeder Puzzle - $12 (need 2)
These puzzle feeders are useful for snakes, armadillos and ferrets who live in our Wieland Wildlife Home! They help lengthen feeding time to better replicate natural behaviors.

Coloring Books - $6 (always in need)

The orangutans enjoy coloring with chalk in coloring books and flipping through the pages. Keepers can also hide treats in the pages of the coloring books for the orangutans to find as well
